General Discussion / Re: 2020 Sherco 300 SE Strange Charging Issue
« on: August 05, 2021, 06:58:12 AM »
My 300 2021 discharged one time due to water on the ignition relay, the ignition was on while the bike was on the garage.

Hi, i had an issue whit my Se 300 2021, one day in the winter the bike started to not having power on high RPM's, good bottom end but no topend.

What i found was the water was getting into the PV electric connection and that would stop it from working, i put a little bit of Teflon on the connection and never had problems agains, check this connection.

General Discussion / Re: SE 300 factory 2021 - Starting issues
« on: January 21, 2021, 07:10:13 AM »
The issue with the 2021 is not the same and not widely discussed on here as the previous poster claims. Something is wrong with the mapping leading to a loss of spark on cranking. The spark usually only happens when you first hit the starter button or when you let off, hence the backfire.

"rkm", you may be right. I have 2019 model and I had starting problems from the beginning. I thought I tackled them with better battery, new start button, new plugs, new wire harness, new relay or with new cdi ignition and updated ecu, but no. Now I have the same ignition system and updated ecu as new bikes (Kokusan cdi model, right?). Maybe now the reason for problems is different than at first, but the outcome is the same - bike starts up differently from time to time: not at all/poorly/with minor problems/normally  :( At this moment, the spark happens exactly as you are describing and then for no visible reason, it becomes normal.

"Trackdaygod", welcome to the club and hopefully you'll get problem solved faster!

what i do to not feel this issue and i almost dont see it as a problem is as rkm sayd, "short button presses ease starting." dont inssist with long button presses, if the bike does not start right away leave the button and wait a couple seconds then try again this will give time for the electric ignition to work properly. At least is what i do with success.

Hi i have a 2021 300 SE and i can confirm that i have this issue, at first i would insist in pressing the button and the motor would just spins and then backfires. now if the bike would not want to start i just wait a couple of seconds and try again usually it starts right off. I didnīt know about the maping, i will talk to my dealer to see.

Also some times the bendix will not engage in first try, need to try 2 or 3 more times.

And don't let the battery gone flat you will not be able to bump start it as it happened to me.

Yesterday bike started from the first press of the button in the warm, but while driving in temperature -11C, I hardly could restart the bike even when it stopped on the track, meaning straight after it was shut down. Current batteries are not old and another one is lead battery from Yuasa, but neither one does not work properly in cold. As there seems to be a pattern here, it's most probably either battery problem either charging problem. I try new battery next thing, even though current batteries shouldn't be so old..  :(

I think your main problem is with the battery, the ignition on this bikes need to have a battery working good, one time when my battert gone flat i tryed to bump start it with no success, even on a long downhill, it only worked with a jump starter, and when i would take out one of the wires of the jump starter the bike would die. So i can tell that thes bikes need to have power in the battery.

And the lithium battery are not good for cold weather, better try a lead acid battery.

Hi i own a 2021 300 SE .

One day i the bike gave me a flat battery i needed to jump start it on the garage, after that the ride went well, the bike charged the battery.

On last ride the power valve motor stoped working, here in Portugal we had lots of rain and i power wash my bike every ride 2-3 times a week.

what i found that was causing the problems was moisture/water on the connections to the power valve motor and the flat battery was in another connection that was keeping the ignition turned on.

I took out all the connections i could find and cleaned them with contact cleaner now its good, i think that this is maintenance that we need to do in the winter.

Cheers.

Sherco Tech / Re: Rear suspension play?
« on: November 10, 2020, 01:58:12 AM »
Hi guys,

The play is normal, i have a new 2020 SE 300 factory with KYB and it has a little play. Previously i had a gasgas ec 300 2018 with KYB it also had play since new. I changed all the berings on my gasgas hopping that the play would go and after that, the play was still there. Talked to a mechanic that tould that this is normal with linkage suspensions.

Sherco Tech / Re: Runaway engine after wash

Hi,

Recently i had this problem on my previous bike, i did the following steps:
- cleaned carb realy well check for dirt deposits in the o-rings (after this got a little better)
- gave it a little more gas in the air screw (little better after this but problem not gone)
- changed the left crank seal, the one in the magnetic cover.(solved the issue, and i returned the air screw to its original position)

The crank seal was bad, i could see mixture oil leaking, but this was after 300h after 16h is weird, could be the air filter is wet? change the filter and test it.

Keep us update, cheers.
