General Discussion / Swingarm Bearings
« on: December 01, 2016, 01:06:17 PM »
Summer 2016 has finally conceded defeat & Ol Man Winter is taking over.
It's time to swap out the tires for winter studs.
My 2014 SEF300R has 125 hours so I'm going to change wheel bearings & swingarm bearings while I'm at it.
I've never had the swingarm out of this bike, is there any tutorial or helpful hints?

easy enough.
Is there anything special about the rivets to put it back together again (temperature rating?)

with just over 100 hours on it, the Akrapovic exhaust on my SEF300 Factory seems to be getting pretty loud.
Is it repackable?

General Discussion / Re: Fuel economy - 2015 300 SEF-R

yup, my 2014 300 SEF-R Factory is good for about 75km of mostly 2nd gear singletrack.
Never checked to see how far it will go on the low fuel light.
I share the concern of clewis199 on running fuel pumps dry.

yeah, the sidestand tab is one of the very few weak points on my SEF300.
Mine hasn't broke but it's more flexible than a 19 year old pole dancer.
Like Weantright, my sidestand is home in a box while the bike is leaned up against a tree.
The beauty of FI is that if I have to lay it over on the ground (no trees) it doesn't flood like a carb would.

This tool will help you remove stifter from the bike.
I dont know how to name it in English. Sorry~  ;)
This is less than $10 USD in Taiwan.

That looks just like mine (I call it a gear-puller) but there isn't room to get it on the shifter spline.

General Discussion / Re: Akrapovic silencer guard
« on: September 15, 2015, 07:36:17 PM »
We produce a very popular Akrapovic Silencer Guard at P3 Carbon for the Husqvarna TE449/511. If we can get enough people on board for a Sherco Akrapovic version, we can put it into development.

I had this guard on my 511 & it was very good.
I'd buy one for the SEF300 Factory if it was available.

getting the shifter off is a bit of a challenge.
Could not get my gear puller in there, had to use some heat.
The splines were covered in what looks like red Loctite.

At BFD we learned that the 2015 SEF300 shifter is not the same as on the 2014 SEF300 but that the 2014 SEF450 shifter is the same.
So put the new one on and bent the old one to more or less the right angle to keep as a spare (more heat).

quite an extreme ride on Friday & bent the shifter.
Anyone know if one of the Hammerheads fits? 2014 SEF300 Factory

Also; it put a bit of a ding in the side - is there a cover / protector for these bikes?

Check the main power switch. Mine went bad. They make intermittent contact and shutbthe bike down. ....

You mean the on/off switch on the handlebars?

Check the spark plug, spark and all connectors. Report back.

BFD changed the plug to an Iridium & it fired right up.
Next ride: 9km down the trail in 6th gear doing about 90kph (55 mph), it just died - as if out of gas or had hit the kill switch.
Coast to a stop, re-started it & it ran perfectly all day & all the next day.
Weird.
