2020 Sherco SEF 500 Factory Update.
« on: October 01, 2019, 07:00:07 PM »
I got my 2020 Sherco SEF 500 Factory last Wednesday.  I put about 90 miles on it Friday and Saturday.  Riding mostly wide flowy trails, with the occasional more technical 50" wide trails above 8000ft.  This thing is amazing!  It is powerful, fast, and amazingly agile.  The clutch in 1st gear almost reminds me of a Rekluse.  You can idle through things without even touching the clutch.  It is incredibly agile and responsive.  Just a slight shift in weight makes it move easily side to side.  The power is completely controllable, even in the hard map setting.  It's a little slow and torquie from a stand still, but as soon as the mid range and high range kick in you better hold on.  And it's guaranteed to put a smile on your face!  The suspension is more firm than the WP on my old bike.  This is a good thing in a sense that it forces you to stand up in the rough stuff, that you should be standing in anyways.  I like the feel of the lower bars when I'm seated.  Reminds me of the geometry on my mountain bike.  Still getting use to the lower bars when standing, as I feel the put me in a slightly different position than I'm use to.  This bike completely different and so much better than my 2010 KTM XCW 530 Six Days.  While the 300 might be the ruler of the hard enduro and single track, I wouldn't be afraid to rip some single track with this bike (just maybe not hard enduro).

First ride out yesterday, the bike feels lighter than my old 350  excf , turns quicker in the corners and in the woods! Iím not sure about the lower handlebar position, might have to get risers!
Loads of controlable power,  easy to ride.

Renthal 997 Twinwall is a higher handlebar you might like.

I was thinking of trying bars with more bend, as risers would move the bars closer to me , which I donít want, unless some off set risers would move the bars away from rider! I think it will make the bike much better to ride.

Lots of owners of the 2019/20 models fit a bend known as CR high bend.
It's the same as the earlier Oxia bar fitted to pre 2019 bikes

Yeh Iím not sure about 2Ē yet, but I do think the bars are to low when standing! Iíve moved to bars forward in the clamps, but itís not much better. Iím going to sneak out for a quick 10mins test today!
I was just curious that the sizes were correct!

I was out for a few hours in the bike yesterday, did a good 40miles through single track, woods , gravel tracks. As  was suggested the ROXĒ, 2Ē rise was to much! It was great on the road for distance riding  and some long trails, but on steep incline/declining etc..., it was to high! I will swap the Rox for some smaller risers maybe 25/30mm. Even so the bike still performed well in all conditions, very nimble in tight turns in the woods and pulled like a tractor up the hills.
