450/500 reliability, rebuild hours
« on: April 28, 2020, 09:21:48 PM »
How are the big bores working out for reliability? Anyone lunched an engine? How many hours until top end/bottom end rebuild are folks getting?

No news could be good news.
Just reading about a Kiwi that rode a KTM500 140,000ks around the world with first top end at 67k and bottom end around 100k...any bets on the sherco getting close to this??

No real issues in Australia, the market the 500 was made for.
All the 450 and 500 models run in the Finke desert race and other long duration enduros have finished, the 450 a winner in its class.
The last year they ran, the full Sherco team finished, except for one of the ladies who broken her collar bone.
None of the Beta team bikes finished, all with bike failures....

They're pretty solid  :)

I've brought mine new in march 19 and its now done 150 ish hours with no problems. i change the oil and filter every 15hours of riding. Its had it valves checked 3 times now and no adjustment needed... im gonna change the piston after this years riding, so it will on probably be around 220 by then..

I bought my 500 in April, and was told there was only 1-2 in the country! Looks like you had the other!!
