New se300, chain adjuster lock nut cant break loose
« on: February 21, 2021, 03:56:49 PM »
Petty issue and irritating. Maybe someone has had this before?

Adjusting the chain for the first time and could not break loose the 13mm lock nut to adjust. I swear its like it tightened over wet paint or something.

The wrenches are sloppy fitting and you know you usually only get it one position to wrench it. I ended up partly rounding out one side of the nut. May be trouble

Any ideas?

Thanks, ya'll from Texas

Heat and wd40 to the rescue...
Other things to do - pull the wheel and axle, thread the adjusters out, and apply anti-sieze to the adjuster bolts

Thanks, yep. I will have to remove the axle after looking at it. Tried WD40, only had a soldering iron for heat, wasn't enough.

Thanks for the tips. We have more important things to talk about! :)

You should be able to fit a deep well socket on the the locknut, no slippage
