[2020] 300 se factory, cracks in frame
« on: June 12, 2021, 02:45:37 AM »
Hello,
Just found some cracks in the frame of my 300 se factory 2020.
Anyone else who has experienced this or heard of it.

Is it possible to weld this or what do do?

That's troubling. How many hours? Did you buy it new? What type of riding do you do? Worth reaching out to the importer/factory, they need to look at that. Looks like there's a bit of rust there as well

I wouldn't do anything until the importer /dealer looks at it, but with cracks in so many places, I wouldn't ride with that

Thanks for response, I bought it second hand. Former owner was a member of swedish Sherco team, so probably he would have run this bike way harder than me. But he only rode this bike like 20-30 hours before he moved on to an 2021, this bike then worked as a follower bike. I have been riding usual swedish Enduro and haven't done any big jumps or any big crashes etc, I have run it for approx 10 hours. So in total this bike is under 50 hours.

Worth mention is that I yesterday also found that the upper engine mount was cracked, the actual piece between head and frame. So there must have been a hard landing/hit on this bike.

Except for this frame problem, the bike is almost as new.

I'm having hard to think this was a known problem from their side when I bought it (but probably it was already there). So as you advised, Sherco might want to investigate this more in depth.

Tomorrow I will try to reach out to a local dealer that imports shercos and see if the can guide me who to contact at sherco.

I will keep this thread updated when I have new information...

maybe the hours of the bike are not the real ones if they have disconnected the odometer it has much more you can have the ecu read by the dealer with the sherco diagnostics to know the real hours

Former owner was riding for team Sherco Sweden, so it sounded like they had all history of this bike when I talked with the dealer. Of course you never know, but at least for me it's hard to believe that that (pre owner) would lie about the hours when they almost got new bikes (with very reduced price) from Sherco. I really hope that's not the case, team riders should in my opinion be ambassadors for this sport and don't do that kind of things.
But you have a good point, that is probably the next thing to check. In worst case I have to buy a new frame, and unfortunately that will end this season for me (i assume i will be at least 2000 euros).

Wow that's really bad...  Hours meaning nothing in this case.  It take one serious event with the bike and you have damage.  The rust indicates it happened a while ago which works in your favor if you just got the bike.

Good luck hopefully Sherco does you right because I'd be looking for a new frame or more likely a different bike.

In all seriousness,
Its not uncommon for any brand of bike to crack frame when a pro is pushing it limits.

Totally agree, this could happen all brands. I really like the Sherco bikes (the few 5-6h) i have been riding :). I just hope this will be resolved in some way so I can ride my bike again. Just feel so unhappy regarding this, i sold my Husaberg 2t (Ktm) and bought i almost brand new bike because I have so limited time to do mechanical repairs etc. Usually i only ride ~20 hours a year.

No, still waiting for response from Sherco (dealer has created a warranty case). So hopefully I will get a response soon, haven't spooked with the former owner but I will try to reach out this week as well.

Update, just got information that they are currently building a new frame for my bike, so that's the best news i could get regarding this! Big praise to Sherco
