MY SHERCO NO GO
« on: October 19, 2021, 10:00:26 PM »
G'Day,
I own a 2021 300 Factory 2t. Up until the other week ,to me it was the best bike I have ridden off road. Now it is the biggest headache. It has 1300 easy Klm's  and is well looked after( I am a mechanic)MY problem is it starts up fine ,you ride for around 20-30 minutes and I cuts out and will not start for app 5-10 minutes then goes fine for app 10-20 minutes until it stops again.I have changed coil ,changed ecu relay disconnected kill switch, checked charging voltage, replaced spark plug, pulled apart all connectors and cleaned,I am thinking maybe ECU ,Pulse coil.Is there any checks I can do on these items or does any body have any ideas?

Once it dies check for spark.
Then you will know if it's electrical or not.
Carry a spare spark plug to test.
Another simple possibility is gas tank vent

Check the resistance of the stator windings/pick up coil. bet it's way high or open when it gets hot.

Local mechanic had a '17 model(I believe) and there was a bad wire connection at the voltage relay. It was causing a similar issue. Bike would run fine at one moment, and then would die and not start. It may have been in the connector if I recall correctly.

Sound like a similar issue i had in a honda aircooled bike many years ago.
Crack wire in the stator. Would run fine when cold, heat up and stop running. only start again when it cooled.
A gap would open up in the wire when it got hot  stopping current. Something to look at.

I don't get on here much, but it sounds like you have a failing/failed GET CDI unit.(or possibly the coil)
There was a small number of early build bikes that had faulty GET CDI units fitted, a replacement unit and software  update is normally the cure.
They start cold and stop once the electronics heat up.
Talk to your dealer about testing and a replacement
