450- 500 guards and accessories
« on: October 20, 2021, 08:58:35 AM »
Hi.
Just posting a few things i have learned and found when setting up a 19 500.

1 - handguards . The hydraulic lines from the masters are very close to the handlebars.
So you need a mount from the handlebar clamp.
I used the brp mount.
They do list a fitment guide for sherco.

I tried posting photos but file is to large.
So the brp mount replaces the handlebar clamps.

I then used enduro engineering evolution 2 handguards.
I was able to cut down my bars about 30mm on each side.

I noticed there are not a lot of companies making guards for shercos.

Enduro engineering makes a lot for shercos.

I then purchased a EE aluminum skidplate.
EE aluminum radiator guards which include side pieces that act as braces.

EE rear brake disc guard.

All of the EE components were of high strength and quality.

I then added the oem fan kit.
I ordered it from Aomc.
Nice kit. Works off ecu.

I added a tusk temp gauge.
I did this because i am going to ride in winter and want to monitor temperature.

The kit is the same as their fan kits without the fan. About $40. I ordered the one for a 15 Ktm300xcw.
Because i was familiar with it an knew it would work.

I added a tm designs factory edition 2 chain guide. They did not list sherco at the time.
I used one for a 15 ktm 300 xcw with no modifications.

Curious on the comparison between the BRP radiator guards and the EE's. Are the EE's a similar front plate that includes a side? or are they like the multi-piece ones that build like a shell around the radiator?

Hi
EE have inner and outer pieces that are as tall as the radiator. About 8 mm thick . very strong.
And the front piece bolts to it.

I looked at brp website they sell the EE ones. They have a price of. $169

Sorry I meant the Bullet Proof Designs guards: https://bulletproofdesigns.com/bpd-radiator-guards/sherco/

The side plates seem nice to have but I guess most of the damage I get with guards has been twisting which both still probably won't fully resolve

Curious why your bike didn't have a fan from factory, did you buy a Racing model?

Hands down best radiator guards are the B&B Offroad Engineering set from Australia.
Good coverage, strong cage design and clever removable alloy air fin design.

I replaced my stock chain block with a spare from one of my KTM's I had in the drawer. Had to remove a little spacer or something. I did order a TM Design Factory 2 or such as it was claimed to somehow protect the swingarm mounts. It listed fitment on the package as many of the KTM models so If you look for one or have an old KTM guide they will fit fine. The stock KTM guide is an improvement over the stock Sherco but I wanted to protect the frame mount some as well. I tend to break stuff...
